The glass slide stands as a remarkable example of structural glass innovation, offering one of the most thrilling and adrenaline-inducing experiences in Dubai. Anchored to a cantilevered structure projecting from the Address Sky View tower, this 12-meter-long outdoor glass chute seamlessly connects the 53rd and 52nd levels of the building.
The entire slide is engineered as a simply supported system, constructed from four panels of low-iron SGP-laminated glass bonded primarily using structural silicone sealant. While the design appears sleek and minimalistic, its development presented significant engineering challenges. Rigorous testing protocols were implemented to validate assumptions about the structural performance of the glass and its safety factors, which was particularly critical given the demanding environmental conditions of Dubai’s hot and humid climate.
Koltay Facades undertook the comprehensive design and engineering of the glass slide, including its structural connections. The firm also managed the extensive testing regime and provided oversight throughout the construction process to ensure precision and adherence to the highest standards.
