Architect: Zaha Hadid Architects & Architects 61
Developer: Science Centre Singapore
Location: Jurong Lake District, Singapore
Use: Education and Experiences
The New Science Center in the Jurong Lake district is the latest addition to the buzzing Singapore architectural scene.
The main façade system consists of a metal cladded rainscreen, supported by a vertical standing seam wall at both straight and single curved areas.
At double curved areas at bar ends and bar fillets, GRP and GRC cladding is intended. The envelope, that also features a signature glass skylight above the internal scenic spiraling stairs, is completed by curtain wall systems that include semi-unitized curtain wall and add-on system with laser welded mullions at lake-facing bar ends.
Finally, the main entrance bar soffit is clad with stainless steel panels polished to a reflective mirror finish.
Koltay has been involved with ZHA and A61 since the initial international competition, through the whole design stage, and is now supervising construction activities for both facade and facade access strategy.
