Dubai Design District, consisting of 10 buildings (5 to 12 story) located just a few minutes by car from Dubai Downtown. Completed and operative since 2015, the higly anticipated developement is a hub for a wide range of design related companies, ranging from well known high end international design houses to startup SMEs.
Koltay Façades provided facade engineering services for Design & Built procurement, including Facade Performance Specifications, technical tender reviews, design workshops and site meetings, document reviews and approvals of drawings, engineering calculations and material data.
The main system is unitized glazed curtain walling with integrated sail shading features. Further packages include courtyard glass walls, glass fin supported glazing, glass balustrades, glazed skylights, shopfronts with folding doors. The project utilizes existing concrete structures, where the brand new facade design has to correspond to existing site conditions. The project ran on a tight construction schedule.
