Ciel Tower, upon completion, will claim the title of the world’s tallest operating hotel, reaching an impressive height of 367 meters. The structure consists of a GRC-clad podium at its base and a slender, fully glazed tower that rises to 82 stories.
The tower's façade employs 11 variations of a single unitized curtain wall system, carefully designed to accommodate varying curvatures and inclinations along the building’s form. Despite the tower's continuous and streamlined appearance, the façade design optimizes panelization to allow the use of cold-bent glazing across the entire envelope. This approach significantly reduces production costs and fabrication lead times while maintaining the design intent.
A key architectural aspiration was to incorporate landscaping elements into the tower's verticality, leading to the creation of 12 large atria along the sea-facing side. These atria integrate a mix of active and passive cooling strategies, utilizing automated operable glass louvers that harness wind-driven ventilation to enhance thermal performance and occupant comfort.
Koltay Facades has been entrusted with supervising the façade and façade access systems during the construction phase, ensuring the execution aligns with the project’s complex technical and aesthetic requirements.
