On the 23rd of April took place one of the most anticipated events of the year for all fellow facade engineers residing in the United Arab Emirates: The ZAK World of Facades conference. The Koltay Facades team could not miss it, not only because of the general interest the team hold for facades engineering, but also, we regularly share technical insights , case studies and lessons learnt presentation at this and similar events. 

This year we explained the technical research efforts that went into finding solutions for a fully cast glass envelope. To turn the architect's (Studio Ann Holtrop) dream into reality, Koltay Facades along with their partners needed to push the boundaries of the industry in developing the cast glass facade. The realization of the strong concept of casting the texture of the Wadi into the glass facade presented several technical challenges, such as the stabilisation of the structural properties of cast glass with uncompromising depths of the pattern providing an effect suited for the scale of the facade, or the design of a supporting structure, which can hold the overlapping glass panels without intruding into the purest of the architectural expressions. In her presentation, Agnes explains in detail Koltay Facades' first-hand experience in driving technological innovation in the field of facade engineering.
