Architect: SOM, Norr
Developer: Emaar
Use: Residential & Hotel
A high profile residential development, located in Downtown, consisting of two 60-floor elliptical towers connected by a skybridge, set to host a breathtaking infinite pool with unbeatable views over the Burj Khalifa area.
Sky View will be even more: on the top of tower two, you will have the opportunity to take a walk in - or above, in an external walkway - the sky in a glass floor observation deck, protruding for more than 20 m at 220 m above the ground.
The facade comprises unitized system curtain walling, the main system, but also cable net glass walls in the lobbies, glass balustrades, opening windows and large canopies.
Koltay Façades provided the full facade and BMU engineering scope from schematic stage to tender documentation, then followed up in supervision stages until handover.
SHAPING THE VIEW
The collaboration between Koltay Façade and the architectural team started in a very early stage resulting in a extremely efficient design process. Based on the design intent, the modulation of the envelope was analyzed and tuned, acting simultaneously on the unit width, the cladding zones and inter-unit angles. We came up with an optimized revision - ensuring the same aesthetic result of the original design - that reduced significantly the different types of extrusions required: a facade easier to build and cheaper.
